The 2028 Italy Residency: History, Art & Innovation

A Professional Development Journey for School Middle Leaders April 12 – 22, 2028 | Rome • Orvieto • Florence

While senior executives have their retreats and students have their study tours, the Andiamo Middle Leaders’ Residency is designed specifically for the "engine room" of the school. This is a 10-day immersive experience for Heads of Faculty, Year Coordinators, and Subject Leads who want to recharge their professional practice in the world's most iconic cultural landscape.

This isn't just a holiday—it’s an opportunity to gain global perspectives that translate directly back to the Australian classroom, all while networking with peers from across the national school network.

Stage 1: Rome | The Eternal City

April 12 – 14 Stay at a secure, private Australian University campus located on the quiet Janiculum Hill. This "Safe Harbour" provides a comfortable, familiar home base with 24/7 Australian-standard support, away from the tourist crowds but minutes from the action.

  • The Experience: Explore the Roman Forum and Colosseum through a "Leadership" lens. Visit the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel to analyse the history of global influence and art patronage.
  • The Highlight: Witness the Good Friday procession at the Colosseum—a world-class spectacle of culture, history, and lighting design.
  • The Social: Guided "hidden gem" food tours through the Trastevere district.

Stage 2: Orvieto | The Hilltop Escape

April 15 – 16 As Rome hits its peak for the holiday weekend, we move to the medieval hilltop city of Orvieto. This is where history meets the "Slow Food" movement.

  • The Experience: Discover the subterranean world of Etruscan caves and the architectural marvel of the Orvieto Duomo.
  • The Highlight: A long, traditional Italian lunch in the Umbrian hills. This is "Professional Development" at its most relaxed—discussing curriculum and leadership over world-class local produce.

Stage 3: Florence | The Birth of Innovation

April 17 – 21 We conclude in the birthplace of the Renaissance, focusing on the "Humanist" shift that changed how we think about science, art, and education.

  • The Experience: Guided pedagogical visits to the Accademia (Michelangelo’s David) and the Uffizi Gallery.
  • The Highlight: A "Creative Innovation" workshop. We look at how Renaissance master-builders like Brunelleschi solved impossible problems, providing fresh metaphors for school leadership.
  • The Social: Explore the Oltrarno artisan district and the famous Mercato Centrale.

The Andiamo Edge

We specialize in "Turnkey" professional travel. By partnering with Australian academic institutions in Rome, we provide a level of security and exclusive access that standard tours can’t offer.

  • Professional Recognition: Participants receive a certificate of completion/micro-credential in Global Cultural Leadership, which can be used toward professional learning hours.
  • Peer Networking: Connect with other Faculty Leads from the ACT and national Marist networks in a relaxed, high-end environment.

Expressions of Interest for 2028 are now open. Join a cohort of leaders ready to bring a global edge back to their faculty.
